Good morning Mr. Merker and all,
While I do appreciate your response dated July 30th to my email regarding the Pier 5 Zoom meeting and the transfer fee issue, I have yet to hear from anybody on your team.
I am not surprised however dismayed that the BPDA chooses to ignore credible questions and information seeking going forward.

In regard to Pier 5, stop following and chasing the money.
Pay more attention to the reality of our present day issues such as, climate changes, our health care crisis, our need here in Charlestown for more green and blue space.
Follow the science based research in regard to what keeps people healthy mentally and physically.
It’s not rocket science but surely all validated findings regarding health should be at the forefront at your decision regarding building here in Charlestown.

Your format for Zoom meetings is dismal as hardly anybody in Charlestown is aware of the huge building plans and influx of residents and “keys.”

You are in no way looking out for the quality of life here in Charleston but what benefits the BPDA.
Many years ago I did ask for the BPDA to provide a full page ad in the Bridge to plot out the RFP’s and proposals, to increase awareness of the future of this one square mile.
Anybody not in agreement with the BPDA receives the basic treatment, silence.

As an aside, in the 80’s while living on Revere Beach a developer breezed in with a proposal for a 30 story building.

A number of citizens researched the archaic zoning laws and found there was no height limit.
We formed a group, “Yes We Can Fight City Hall”, canvassed the City of Revere and had a ballot question which put certain much needed zoning restrictions updated going forward.
We suggested a moratorium of no building of more than 4 stories for a year.
We WON by over 85% of voters asking for upgraded zoning laws.

As I look at Revere Beach now, yes, there are many new buildings but all within a decent height range.

In regard to Pier 5 and all the many building proposals, it makes me wonder if we here in Charlestown need to got the route of a ballot initiative or another avenue?

We are not going to stand by while an independent arm of City Hall, focuses on being a money maker to the demise of our life here in Charlestown.
There is NO planning whatsoever here in Charlestown.
The current planner is delinquent in his duties and allegiance to the citizens of Boston / Charlestown, and we refuse to go forward with the present status.
Zoom meetings have to go, checking off the boxes in the RFP’s and going forward with limited citizen participation, needs to stop.

“The less they know, the more we sow”.
This seems to be the mantra of the BPDA.

Ann Kelleher
