By transforming Pier 5 into a public waterfront park, residents will have a free and accessible place to enjoy nature and experience the benefits of being near the water.

The Pier 5 Association advocates for the revitalization and public use of Pier 5 transforming the historic waterfront site into a vibrant public space that serves diverse residents, visitors, and future generations.
Public events, Courageous educational programs, and family-friendly activities hosted at the pier will create opportunities for residents to connect, celebrate diversity, and build a stronger sense of belonging.
By ensuring the pier remains a shared resource rather than a privatized luxury, it reinforces the idea that Boston’s waterfront should be inclusive and accessible to all, helping bridge economic and social divides in the neighborhood.

Pier 5 has organized numerous community events, 4 Earth Celebrations, other charrettes, flood protection demonstrations, public/family boardwalk meetings & engagements to reactivate Pier 5 as a National Historic Park destination with economic revenue for the city and invaluable public space for all.
The Pier 5 Association has successfully built broad public support for a resilient waterfront park in cooperation with the Courageous Sailing School, the Boston Redevelopment Authority Corporation, the City of Boston, the State of Massachusetts to activate public access to the landmark waterfront national park providing healthful recreation, education, cultural events.
The Pier 5 community advocates for the revival of Pier 5 in public interest rather than for private luxury yachts.
Pier 5 empowers communities with civic engagement skills and knowledge necessary to build equitable inclusive community resilience against flooding and heat.
Pier 5 inspires the capacity of individuals, community organizations, businesses, government and urban systems to adapt to climate stresses and shocks. Green and blue spaces improve mental health, encourage physical activity, contributing to an overall healthier community.
