GREATER BOSTON’S WATERFRONT WELLNESS SERIES RETURNS IN OCTOBER

FOLLOWING SUCCESSFUL SPRING AND SUMMER

The Coalition for a Resilient and Inclusive Waterfront (CRIW) hosts the final Waterfront Wellness Weekend of 2025 and invites the public to join our coalition members for additional programming throughout 2025.

BOSTON — The Coalition for a Resilient and Inclusive Waterfront (CRIW) — a network of more than 60 nonprofit organizations across Greater Boston working to promote access, equity, resilience, economic vitality, and public health — today announced its final Waterfront Wellness Weekend (WWW) of 2025. The fall edition will take place Wednesday, October 1 through Saturday, October 4, offering a diverse lineup of free, inclusive events along Boston’s harbor, rivers, and islands.

Now in its fourth year, the Waterfront Wellness series is designed to connect communities with the city’s waterfront through seasonal, neighborhood-based programming that celebrates the health and environmental benefits of Boston’s blue spaces. Held across four weekends between April and October, the series has brought residents and visitors together to explore how our waterfront supports physical, mental, social, and cultural well-being — while also highlighting the importance of creating resilient, accessible public spaces for all.

“Boston’s waterfront is one of our city’s greatest public assets — and it belongs to all of us,” said Councilor Ruthzee Louijeune, President of the Boston City Council. “The Waterfront Wellness series reflects the values we hold as a city — equity, inclusion, and community — while also advancing critical priorities like public health and climate resilience. These events don’t just bring people to the waterfront; they help us reimagine it as a space for healing, connection, and environmental stewardship. As we face growing climate challenges, it’s more important than ever to invest in accessible, vibrant spaces that support the well-being of every Bostonian.”

Throughout the October weekend (plus a few days), coalition partners will host events across the city that center wellness in all its forms, from movement and mindfulness to community and environmental connection. These programs aim to activate Boston’s harborwalks, parks, and riverbanks, encouraging residents from every neighborhood to enjoy, explore, and engage with the city’s waterfront.

“Public waterfronts are essential to the well-being of our communities,” said Ian Karby, Senior Advisor to the Coalition. “They offer space for recreation, reflection, connection, and climate action. We’re proud to partner with local organizations to showcase the value of these shared spaces and to invite all Bostonians to experience their beauty and benefits firsthand.”

This October series marks the final Waterfront Wellness Weekend of the year, capping off a 2025 WWW season that has brought many to the waterfront for joyful, health-focused, and community-driven programming. CRIW invites the media and the public to continue to take advantage of the many programs and events offered by CRIW partners year round.
