We’re excited to share that our next and final Waterfront Wellness Weekend series will be taking place between October 1st through October 5th! If you have free and open to the public events occurring in that window that you would like us to include in our programming please fill out this form or reply to this email.

We had so much great programming during our August Waterfront Wellness Weekend and wanted to share some info about a few of the events from that week below:

  • On Tuesday August 5th we hosted our third annual Waterfront Wellness Walk for Stroke Survivors in partnership with the Tedy’s Team Center of Excellence in Stroke Recovery. It was another moving day providing opportunities for stroke survivors and their loved ones to experience the health benefits of blue spaces, this time along the Charlestown Navy Yard, while also building community and new relationships through time to socialize. We had a great turnout of student volunteers from the MGH IHP and it was a highlight getting to see the students learn in the moment and have some fun along the waterfront after their semester had wrapped up. Brief Here.
  • On Wednesday August 6th, Navy Yard Garden and Art hosted a grand opening for their new exhibit, Bridge of Joy. The installation features three large scale sculptures of different animals across Charlestown. The name Bridge of Joy comes from working to connect Charlestown across the Tobin Bridge divide through this art work. The Grand opening was a success with many participants interacting with the sculptures, having their faces painted, trying New Zealand ice cream and socializing on the waterfront. • On Thursday August 7th we were able to host a youth sailing event with Piers Park Sailing and Becoming a Man (BAM). There was a great turnout with participants learning how to sail and kayak on a beautiful summer day. There was a lot of great feedback from the day as well, including this lovely quote, “It was captivating. I would want to try sailing again or maybe even a job here. I liked being out on the water and kayaking.”

Thank you to everyone who has helped make Waterfront Wellness Weekends a success this year!
