Go Green Initiatives

Federal Lands to Parks Program gives federal lands to state and local governments to revitalize urban areas by promoting stewardship of their associated natural, cultural and recreational resources. This creates boosts to local economies and fosters a renewed sense of community among neighbors through community gardens, senior and cultural centers, and local parks.

Ready Boston
Ready Boston is a city-wide community emergency preparedness initiative meant to educate and empower Bostonians about the hazards they may face, and encourages residents to prepare for all types of hazards.

Boston Public Health Commission Community Preparedness
Emergencies don’t wait for you to prepare before they strike. They can happen at any time, anywhere. From hurricanes and blizzards to house fires and flooding, you need to be prepared and ready to protect yourself, your loved ones, and your community.

Imagine Boston 2030
As Boston’s first citywide plan in 50 years, Imagine Boston 2030 will guide positive physical change while promoting shared prosperity, coordinated public investments, and a healthy environment and population.

Waterfront Planning
The Downtown Waterfront Planning Initiative is led by the Boston Planning and Development Agency. It is the next step in the implementation of the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway District Use and Development Guidelines, which were adopted by the Agency in 2010 to preserve and activate the Greenway’s open space resources and enhance connections between the Downtown’s neighborhood districts and waterfront.

“With greater focus and accountability, we will move with even greater urgency on climate to protect our neighborhoods, support our residents, and build a resilient Boston for future generations,” said Mayor Michelle Wu.

SPDF… This is one of the areas in which Scoping Decision appears to be deliberately vague or confusing, probably to avoid agreeing of disagreeing with CZM’s position on required amendments to the MHP.

LDA must respond in the DPIR to the public comments submitted to the BRA “within the framework of the criteria outlined in the Scoping Determination.”

Foth Contract was executed on May 9,2023

$274,936 for Phase 1.

4/4/2024 Federal Flood hazard zoning updates meeting session Virtual mtg Natalie was asked for speakers email addresses. Not provided. The presenters were from the wrong dept of FEMA and were incorrect *cite/insert FEMA schedule of Boston being in Retrograde. This relates to a repeat of the Inundation District. Boston doesnt participate in the National Flood Insurance Program. Inundation District probably would not have happened if Boston did participate.

P5A offered comments, knowledge, professional opinions, records. They invited us to be a part of the process. They have not.

Are there performance evaluations per department? Individuals?

Courageous is a voiceless posture of the BRA.

Winter of 2024 the Courageous School was told by the BRA to stop communications with the Pier 5 Association and overall community about their wishes and visions of Pier 5.

Weeks later a new Ocean Havens employee announced that “we” signed Non Disclosure agreements binding them from communicating with abutters and stakeholders.

Blatant non-participation and in business with the BRA block Transparency and accountability.

The Office of Climate Resilience,

in collaboration with the Planning Department, is committed to addressing the immediate and near-term impacts of climate change, particularly those related to coastal flooding. As part of this commitment, the city seeks proposals from qualified respondents to conduct a comprehensive technical and benefit-cost analysis and provide design and implementation guidance for interim flood protection measures in prioritized, low-lying areas. “The purpose of this RFP is to evaluate existing conditions and options for restoring/repairing or demolition of the pier based on structural capacity required for different possible end uses (Program A, B, and C) (see Foth report).

RFP outlines three options scope. Findings sought for study and evaluations 1) possible environmental impacts, any possible structural impacts on abutting structures for each option. Report and community engagement will inform Phase 2 and Phase 3 of this engineering scope of work. “Any decisions made for the future use of Pier 5 will be made considering public safety first and foremost.” Gigi

12/27/2022 See P5A comments on Options A,B,C. *look up important.

Cadence / rapid “engagement” with little continuous participation and effort to increase community samples.  Require higher samples and slower time.  Better and more transparent communications (less fat more facts = more efficient/effective/equitable)
