A federal partnership between the City of Boston and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers assessing coastal storm risk management.Section Nav
The City of Boston’s partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) will build on the work of the Climate Ready Boston planning initiatives for the near- and long-term effects of climate change. The partnership between the City of Boston and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers focuses on long-term coastal storm risk through a USACE process known as a Coastal Storm Risk Management (CSRM) Feasibility Study.
The Boston CSRM study will consider long-term flood risk and existing city, federal, state, and local plans and project along Boston’s 47-mile coastline. USACE is assessing coastal flood effects on people, ecosystems, property, and critical infrastructure. From there, USACE will develop potential strategies to manage flood risk, including different tools and approaches that would be eligible for up to 65% federal funding.
